Fall is a magical time of year in the capital city. The leaves start to change, the air gets cooler, and Hartford is filled with endless events and fall fun! If you are a lover of autumn, and want to get out in the city, look no further.We have put together the ultimate bucket list of things to do in Hartford this fall!
1. Catch a beautiful sunset from Mortensen Riverfront Park. Pack a picnic and enjoy a riverside dinner with beautiful views of the water and city!
2. Attend an Autumn Tree Tour and take in all the fall foliage. Nature lovers, this one's for you! Head to Cedar Hill Cemetery on October 15th, at 10:00am to join in on the Autumn Tree Tour. Make sure to register beforehand to reserve your spot on the tour. This tour showcases over 100 different types of trees and will give you all the autumn vibes.
3. Embrace an immersive haunting experience at Cedar Hill Cemetery. October 28th, there are going to be lantern tours around the cemetery. History is going to be coming alive for this tour as character actors will share true and haunting stories of residents. Reservations are required to join in on this spooky fun, make sure to check out what time slots they have available.
4. Get brunchin’ — beat the Sunday Scaries by sipping mimosas or trying a craft autumn cocktail! Check out some of the best brunch in the city to try with your friends this fall.
5. Join in on Light the Night! Not only is it an event to get outside and enjoy the autumn air — The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has created this event as time to gather as a community to honor, celebrate, and remember those touched by blood cancers. Light the Night takes place on October 13th at Bushnell Park, activities begin promptly at 6:00 pm.
6. Pride on Pratt — On September 16th, @prattstreethartford is partnering with @skycasperentertainment to host a free drag show on Pratt Street! Head to Pratt at 8:00pm to shop from local LGBTQ+ pop-up vendors. The show kicks off at 9:00pm! Get there early because the first 100 attendees will receive FREE Pride on Pratt merchandise. Don’t head out after the show, grab a bite at Vaughan’s, Sunberry, or Sorella and hang out on Pratt all night long. For more information, click the link!
7. If you want to try something new this fall, head to Pine & Iron Axe Throwing. You are surrounded by knowledgeable staff and lively energy. So book your throwing now if you want to join in on the edgy fun.
8. Enjoy a Halooween bar crawl. Join in on Hartford’s largest Halloween Bar Crawl with over five bars, Halloween themed drinks, costume contests, and all of the spooky fun. There will be live music, Dj’s, and bands at the bars so don’t forget your dancin’ shoes. For all you party animals you are in luck, the crawl will take place on October 22nd, 29th, and 31st!
9. A biker's dream! On October 8th, all bike clubs and solo riders are coming together for Capital Bikefest! From showing off your ride, meeting new clubs, enjoying music or just grabbing a tasty bite, this bikefest is a biker's dream. Head to the Phoenix Society at 3:00pm and don’t forget to check out the awesome food, music, hookah, and cigar vendors.
10. Hit the streets — Main Street will be transformed into a car-free public space on October 23rd, where you can bike, dance, skip, and skate through the street. 11. Attend an event at the Bushnell. On October 29th, at 3:00pm get all your Halloween energy ready! This is more than just a concert, HSO’s Tales of Halloween showcases musical favorites mixed with festive activities! Make sure to dress up in your best costume, this event is perfect for the whole family. If you are interested in this event make sure to snag your tickets now!
12. Dive into theater — This year rings in the 11th anniversary of Nightfall. On Saturday, October 1st, head on down to Elizabeth Park to enjoy the seasonal change by enjoying nature, music, dancing, and theater. Embrace the spooky szn by dressing up in your best costumes and masks! The grounds open at 2:00pm and performance starts at 6:00pm, keep your calendar open for this one, you are not going to miss all the fall vibes Nightfall brings.
13. Scooter around the city — The City of Hartford partnered with LINK Scooter to offer electric scooters all around the city. Pack a picnic lunch and scooter to one of our gorgeous parks and enjoy a day out around Hartford.
14. Head outdoors — layer up, bring fido and head outside! It’s no secret that one of the things that makes Hartford great is the city’s combination of urban living and beautiful parks. Whether you are aching to surround yourself with greenery or are searching for places to bike on scenic paths, Hartford’s parks all come with a sense of serenity just for you!
