For those of you who have a mother or mother figure in your life, Mother’s Day is the best time of year to shower them with an extra bit of love and appreciation. Mother’s Day comes around quickly in the springtime, so it’s important you’re on top of gift-buying for the occasion. We’re lucky that Hartford has many unique, locally-owned shops to buy gifts, floral arrangements, and more! Read on to find the best Mother’s Day gifts in Hartford.
If there’s one thing that all moms love, it’s cards from their kids! Hartford Prints! is offering a huge selection of uniquely designed Mother’s Day cards that can be purchased online or at their location on Pratt Street.
If your mom is a lover of vintage clothing, plants, and home decor, Gentle Bull Shop is the perfect place to find a gift that’s completely original and one-of-a-kind. This unique and charming shop on Pratt Street features an ever-changing inventory of goods including handmade jewelry, candles, live plants, and so much more.
Pratt Street is back for another season of events! On Saturday, May 11th from 12-5pm (the day before Mother’s Day), head down to Pratt for the Mother's Day Market, hosted by The Gentle bull and Poor Girl Rich Life. Find the perfect gift from one of the many local vendors, take a workshop, and enjoy many food and drink specials from Pratt St. businesses!
Show your mom how much you love and appreciate her with a beautiful flower arrangement from one of Hartford’s local florists.
Bloom Bake Shop, located right on Pratt Street, is a one-of-a-kind place where you can pick up delicious, homemade baked goods, specialty coffee drinks, and stunning bouquets and arrangements. Open Wednesday–Sunday, Bloom offers grab-and-go bouquets, dried flowers, and house plants, and will be open for business with tons of flowers ready to buy during Pratt Street’s Mother's Day Market!
De Vars-Phillips is located on Sisson Avenue in the West End, and has been open since 1983. If you’re a last-minute bouquet buyer (don’t worry—we won’t judge), De Vars-Phillips has you covered. They make fresh bouquets on demand, but we highly recommend ordering in advance. Owner Bill Cusano makes beautiful arrangements tailored specifically to your needs. Plus, your mom will be super proud that you thought ahead. Keep in mind that they are closed on Sundays!
At Persimmon Petals, you can buy your mom flowers while supporting a cause that benefits the Hartford community. In 2022, the YWCA, among five other non-profits, were selected by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to participate in a Social Enterprise Accelerator. The YWCA opened Persimmon Petals, where each purchase of their stunning and unique bouquets, part of the profits helps fund the YWCA Hartford Region in their pursuit to eliminate racism and empower women. Persimmon Petals aptly promises to provide “flowers that empower,” and they do just that!
Remember when Sigourney Weaver and Elizabeth Banks were filming “Call Jane” in the West End? We have it on good authority that florals for the actors were ordered from House of Flora. If the mother figure in your life loves the superstar treatment, look no further than House of Flora. They make fresh bouquets for walk-ins, but always recommend calling ahead, especially around busy holidays!
